Brooke Ray Smith

Director, Community Development

Brooke Ray brings expertise in urban planning, sustainable design, and community building to her role as coordinator between Passerelle and the City and community of Los Altos. A Mountain View native, she grew up spending countless hours at the Linden Tree bookstore where her mother and grandmother both worked. Prior to joining Passerelle she worked for the City of San Francisco and independently consulted on a range of planning and green building projects in the Bay Area and beyond.

Brooke Ray received a B.A. in Biology from Williams College and holds dual masters degrees in City & Regional Planning (MCP) and Landscape Architecture (MLA) from the University of California, Berkeley. She lives in San Francisco and can often be found cycling around the Bay or playing ultimate frisbee.

Joan Zhao

Director, Real Estate Services

An experienced real estate professional for nearly ten years, Joan is currently responsible for overseeing acquisition transactions, leasing, tenant improvements, and property management.  She enjoys working with contractors and tenants to coordinate successful outcomes on diverse and challenging projects. Prior to joining Passerelle, Joan was a real estate broker where she was involved in residential sales, leasing, construction, overseas property investment, and property management.

Joan is a graduate of San Francisco State University and currently resides in San Francisco with her husband, two young boys and her Shih-Poo Benji.
